Chemistry Consulting Group has been retained by Tourism Prince George to search for a passionate and strategic Chief Executive Officer.

 

Tourism Prince George is a not-for-profit society governed by tourism industry stakeholders through an appointed Board of Directors. The vision of the organization is to raise awareness of Prince George as an all-season destination with remarkable urban experiences and incredible wilderness opportunities.

 

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading and executing the strategic business goals and targets for Tourism Prince George. The role entails the continued growth of revenues, raising awareness of the community, identifying and maximizing efficiencies and profitability, and contributing to outstanding tourist and staff satisfaction.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

 

Business & Operational Leadership:

  • Directs a small team and is responsible for the entire Tourism Prince George organization overall.
  • Reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for leading and executing initiatives to achieve strategic business goals and targets for Tourism Prince George.
  • Creates and communicates a clear vision through the development of short- and long-term strategies with a goal of increasing efficient practices and overall performance.
  • Designs, monitors, and measures well-defined plans, targets, and budgets.
  • Compliments the business strategy by creating, executing, and implementing an annual business plan for Tourism Prince George.
  • Effectively builds and maintains relationship with local and regional contacts such as Destination BC and Tourism Industry Association of BC.
  • Collaborates with other Destination Marketing Organization’s to support clear communication of community needs and deliver consistent messaging.

 

Cultural & Community Leadership

  • Develops a strong team through effective recruitment, mentoring, development, and team practices.
  • Sets performance targets and measures and motivates staff to achieve targets while monitoring overall performance of the group.
  • Proactively predicts the evolving needs of the community to ensure changing needs and problems are resolved through positive and appropriate solutions.
  • Designs and implements a community involvement plan; takes leadership roles within the community and aims to build a positive reputation for Tourism Prince George through active participation and support.
  • Effectively monitors regional and global tourism trends, as well as economic, social and environmental movements, and anticipates the impact on tourism in Prince George.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, such as internal employees, Board members, Destination Marketing Organizations, business owners, visitors, and community members.

 

 

To Ensure Success, You Will Bring

 

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Hospitality, Tourism, or Hotel Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience working for a similar Destination Marketing Organization preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a strategic leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for financial results for a complex business unit or multiple business units
  • In-depth understanding of Board Structures and Governance
  • Highly developed communication (verbal and written) skills with proven ability to present persuasively.
