Our client is a leading international business law and litigation firm, recognized as a best employer in 2023, and they are seeking a Legal Assistant with Commercial Lending and Real Estate experience to work in their - surrey office, which is located close to Station Tower station.


Role Overview


The Legal Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the legal team by providing comprehensive clerical and administrative support. This position requires excellent practice management skills, the ability to juggle competing priorities, and a high level of confidentiality and discretion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage documentation for banking and commercial real estate transactions, including security and ancillary documents.
  • Conduct due diligence, register documents in the Land Title Office and Personal Property Registry, and handle trust funds.
  • Maintain an organized file management and bring-forward system.
  • Ensure that physical and electronic filing is consistently up-to-date.
  • Coordinate meetings and interact with clients.
  • Delegate tasks to and collaborate with other administrative departments.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in corporate commercial law with a focus on secured lending and real estate.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe.
  • Experience with 3E, InTapp, iManage, and DocuSign is preferred.


Required Skills

  • In-depth understanding of BC Land Title Office registration requirements and experience with e-filing.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate terminology, contracts, and forms.
  • Proficient in using relevant online databases (BC Online, LTSA, municipal tax searches).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical and writing proficiency.
  • Customer-focused with a positive, "can-do" attitude.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually. The base pay offered will be determined by location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market factors.
