Law Firm Accountant and Manager

Job Requirement:

Our client, a leading business boutique firm in Vancouver, has an exciting new opportunity for a Firm Accountant-Manager. This firm has been providing top-notch legal services to British Columbia businesses for 20 years, and they require an experienced Financial Accountant and Manager who has law firm experience to lead the organization into the future, taking over from the current Accountant and Manager who is retiring.


The Role

As the Firm Accountant/Manager, you will be the financial backbone of the firm, ensuring that financial strategies align with the vision for growth. You will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing all financial aspects of the firm while fostering a collaborative and efficient financial team.


Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee Financial Operations: Responsible for full-cycle accounting, including overseeing invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies.
  • Oversee and Reconcile Accounts: Oversee and reconcile general and trust accounts, liaise with financial institutions, and ensure compliance with trust accounting rules.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop comprehensive budgets, track financial performance, and provide strategic financial forecasts to support decision-making.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify areas for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and process improvement.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and legal requirements, and prepare financial reports for partners and external stakeholders.
  • Technology Coordination: Coordinate IT support for firm and accounting systems.
  • HR Coordination: In coordination with other administration staff, manage hiring, onboarding, training new employees, benefits administration, and payroll.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire the financial team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture, and mentor junior members of the accounting and management team.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in accounting
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a professional office
  • Proficiency with computer software including PC Law, Worldox, Microsoft Office, and Adobe
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive information
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in the office


Benefits

  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 with additional benefits and compensation perks
