K’awat’si Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) operates thriving businesses with a focus to Indigenous heritage.   The newly renovated Kwa’lilas Hotel and on site Ha’me’ Restaurant and Nax’id’ Pub serve local, fresh west coast Indigenous-inspired cuisine.

 

Chemistry Consulting Group is proud to partner with the Kwa’lilas Hotel to search for an experienced Food and Beverage Manager who will be responsible for coordinating serving staff in both the restaurant and pub.   In addition, the Food and Beverage Manager will book all conferences, meetings and special events at the hotel.

 

Position Overview

 

Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest experience by overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, while working in a clean and safe environment, and meeting all financial goals for sales and expenses.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a genuine, authentic service culture in the restaurant, pub and conference rooms where guests feel that they are truly and sincerely valued.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and schedule all serving staff, including servers, bartenders, bus persons, hosts and banquet staff.
  • Order all inventory for restaurant, pub and banquet service, excluding all food and kitchen supplies. It is expected that Ha’me Restaurant and Nax’id pub will feature many house-made cocktails, as well as regionally inspired beer and wine.
  • Manage all conference and catering bookings.
  • Handle all guest complaints in person or on social media in a tactful and graceful manner.
  • Meet weekly with the executive Chef and discuss issues affecting the restaurant, pub and banquet space.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute all special events and promotions in the pub and restaurant. It is expected that a minimum of one event per month will be featured in either establishment.
  • Serve tables, bartend and host during seasonal low periods when hotel is not busy.
  • Train, coach and guide employees to the standards in accordance with KEDC policy manual.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education in hospitality or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years Food and Beverage management experience, hospitality experience an asset.
  • Must have full understanding of health and safety standards and have the required certificates.
  • Experience with understanding business goals and analyzing expenses and revenue.
  • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
