About E-Volunteering

Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.

E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. Consequently, it is reasonable to assume that when working with the partners, emails will not be responded to immediately. For most of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers and flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.

About Our Partner

Samaritanas - Comunidades Eclesiales de Base

Samaritanas was funded by CEBs (Comunidades eclesiales de Base) in the 90s, as a project to face economic and social crisis in Nicaragua.

The work of Samaritanas is focused on supporting people living in vulnerable situations in Nicaragua (children, adolescents, and women). And the strongest actions are with adolescents and women who are under commercial sexual exploitation.

Samaritanas is an active member of RedMas, which is the strongest Masculinities Network in Nicaragua. Therefore, through the partnership with this organization, Cuso International will support actions implemented by RedMas that are aligned to Cuso´s mission and to the partnership agreement signed with Samaritanas.

RedMas has around 25 members that are local organizations working on gender equity and masculinity with groups of men from different age groups and social strata. This network has been active since 2007, and they have brought new forms and methodologies for the re-construction of roles, perception, and social imaginary towards gender equity.
