Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.
E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. Consequently, it is reasonable to assume that when working with the partners, emails will not be responded to immediately. For most of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers and flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.

As the Communication Advisor for Young Women and Men of Purpose (YWOP/YMOP), you will spearhead the development of a digital communications strategy and oversee its implementation. You will have the responsibility for monitoring the effectiveness of the website and other digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This will include managing search engine optimization and providing a strategy for content that will drive people to the website.
In addition, you will improve the effectiveness of the YWOP/YMOP website (web design, rewriting web copy, monitoring analytics data, and upgrading pages to increase the visual appeal and readability to better engage site visitors), and social media accounts (grow the number of followers and boost engagement).
As an e-volunteer, you will:
- Support the development of a digital communications strategy.
- Support the monitoring and assessment of all digital platforms.
-Assist in the updating of all digital platforms to increase visibility.
Essential Academic Qualifications:
- Degree in web development, multimedia development, graphic design, communications, online marketing, or a similar discipline or equivalent experience
Essential Professional Background:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in communications and/or marketing
- Analytical and information-seeking skills
- Strong knowledge of social media and its numerous platforms, including monitoring and reporting tools
- Strong writing, editing, and communications skills; experience in developing print and digital communication materials.
Young Women and Men of Purpose
Young Women and Men of Purpose (YWOP/YMOP) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), established in 2009 that provides career mentorship and guidance, personal development training and entrepreneurship training and support to young women and men between the ages 13 and 32 years in Central Jamaica. The organization is open to young women and men who seek advice in selecting their career path and need guidance as to the steps to take to achieve it; those facing challenges in their daily lives and require moral support to overcome these challenges and young aspiring entrepreneurs who require entrepreneurship training and support to develop their businesses. Each mentee is paired with a mentor who is a young professional who offers career mentorship and guidance through regular contact with mentees. The organization also hosts fortnightly sessions for mentees every second Tuesdays and last Saturdays of each month. Sessions are centred on career and personal development themes and are usually executed by experts within the field. The volunteers of YWOP/YMOP actively contribute to the growth and development of young people within the Parish of Manchester, St. Elizabeth and Clarendon, by conducting various self-esteem and self-development workshops in several Primary and High Schools across the Parish.
The Organization executes numerous outreach and community development programs such as:
- Annual Christmas Treat for Children with Special Needs, treating over 120 children annual from the parishes of Manchester, St. Elizabeth and Clarendon. December 2018 will mark 10 years Anniversary for this Christmas Treat.
