Our client is a positive long-standing, focused contributor to the community and surrounding area. Their business is a collective of over a dozen active revenue generating companies and an additional group of holding and investment companies. They are involved in real estate, land development, construction and property management with activity in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.


They have a strong, experienced CFO that has been essential in the growth of their group. The growth and volume of work has created the opportunity to add this new and exciting role for the right individual.


Each of the companies within their group has been assigned a capable accounting professional who oversees and delivers day to day accounting, monthly financial statements, and in some cases, cash flow projections. For a select group of companies, our controller assists the assigned accounting professional in preparing the year-end statements and corporate tax returns.

The team is attentive, and results driven, with a strong emphasis on ethics, accuracy, honesty and integrity.


Position: Permanent, VP of Finance in an office environment, full time, starting as soon as the right individual is identified Compensation: $120 K - $180 K per year, dependent on level of experience, education and abilities; a comprehensive group health plan, and 3 weeks vacation to start, relocation assistance provided (6-month probationary period)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading, coordinating and managing the accounting team
  • All high-level accounting functions including overseeing the day-to-day accounting activities and reporting requirements for their group of companies
  • Overseeing yearly financial statement and corporate tax return preparation for a group of their companies and will be actively involved in the accounting functions in those companies
  • Strategic financial and business planning in the areas of budgeting, asset management, cash flow management, risk management, insurance strategies, tax compliance, tax planning and corporate tax return preparation
  • Willingness to take responsibility for the actions and outcomes of the team; commit to delivering promised deadlines and generate acceptable solutions through experience and collaborative work
  • Reporting to the CFO on all financial matters and ensuring that the accounting team complies with all principles, by-laws, practices, and internal reporting measures in the areas of accounting and finance.


The successful individual will have the following qualifications:

  • Must be able to work legally in Canada
  • University degree with a CPA designation or related degree with proven leadership skills in the areas of accounting, finance, and management
  • Public Practice experience and exposure to corporate taxation will be an asset
  • 10+ years of previous accounting experience and 3-5 years of supervisory experience of 3+ person teams
  • Creative problem-solving ability to take financial information identify gaps and opportunities sharing information in a timely and relevant manner to support business opportunities
  • Self-motivated, flexible, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision
  • Able to interact seamlessly and with a professional demeanor across a broad range of individuals
  • Analytical with excellent time-management, organizational, and decision-making abilities
  • Resilient in dealing with changing schedules, pressing timelines, and financial priorities
  • Professional and friendly attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Lead through integrity and strong business ethics
