Job Function:
We are currently recruiting a retail greenhouse manager for a dynamic and growing organization in North Battleford, SK. This position will start as soon as the right candidate is identified.
BENEFITS:
10 hr days with paid OT – scheduled days off
April 1, 2025 – July 31, 2025
$25 - $30/hr. pending education and experience
Paid training can be provided earlier in St. Walburg, SK
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner to answer their questions regarding plant selection, planting, and caring for their purchase by using your previous garden centre experience and/or home gardening knowledge.
Plan and delegate the work tasks utilizing the strengths and skills of your sales associates.
Use independent judgement to prioritize tasks while handling interruptions and/or changes in plans.
Train new employees and provide on-going performance feedback to motivate your team.
Receiving, pricing and stocking new and seasonal products ensuring quality standards, accurate pricing and sufficient levels are available. Advising on re-ordering of product as needed.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the greenhouse to ensure a safe environment for customers and employees.
Willing and able to provide assistance to other areas of the garden centre as needed.
To create a list of daily duties for the staff to ensure the department is always running smoothly and efficiently.
Execute display ideas, display changes and displayer requests.
To provide ongoing staff training in areas of customer service, plant knowledge, and company policies.
Staff scheduling for retail sales staff, watering staff, and stocking staff.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Experience in a full-service garden centre is an asset and/or have a well-rounded home gardening experience is required. Horticultural knowledge is not a requirement, but an interest in plants and a willingness to learn about plants is.
A positive, hard-working, and team-minded personality is required.
Working experience in leading a diverse team.
Customer Service is key and you will need a minimum of 2 years of retail experience.
Strong communication and organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Flexible availability to work full-time shifts 5 days a week including weekends and stat holidays. Hours/days may increase during peak times.
This is a very physically active position and requires the successful candidate to be able to lift • (up to 20 KG or 45 pounds), bend and stand for long periods of time. You will be required to work in various weather conditions (cold, heat, wet) to perform the full function of the position.
