One of Toronto’s leading Conservative synagogues, is looking to hire a full-time or part-time Program Coordinator to work with our Director of Programming.

Overview
This is an exciting, hands-on role, responsible for planning and implementing programs for young families and their children, aged 0 to 18. Through innovative programs and a focus on relationship-building, the Youth Director will play an integral role in guiding children, teens, and their families as they grow in their own Jewish lives religiously, culturally, and socially.


The full-time role is approximately 40 hours-per-week, and if part-time, the hours are negotiable (20-30). The successful candidate will work with the Director of Programming to create a schedule that makes sense for the Congregation and for staff. Ideally the candidate should be available on Saturday mornings, occasional Sunday afternoons and/or weekday evenings, and on most Jewish holidays. They are looking for a candidate who is flexible and committed.


Responsibilities
Plan and implement age-appropriate programming for children in a range of age cohorts and their families. This may include:

  • Weekly Shabbat programs.
  • Jewish holidays and Festivals.
  • After-class programs on Sunday afternoons.
  • Teen specific programs including chesed initiatives.
  • General youth-oriented and family programs.
Job Requirement:

Skills

  • Knowledge of Jewish customs and practices, specifically in a Conservative synagogue environment.
  • MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook. PowerPoint knowledge is an asset.
  • Comfort with social media used by the various age cohorts.
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to lead Shabbat and Holiday services is an asset (not a necessity).

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children/youth in a programming role.
  • An asset working in the Jewish community (summer camp experience, etc.).
