Brief Description:

Our employer is a Jewish day school looking for a dedicated, compassionate individual with experience working with children, either in a school or in a pediatric setting. Reporting to the Principal, the School Nurse will be responsible for attending to the health needs of students throughout the school day and providing nursing support and advice as needed. They will also be responsible for some office administrative duties.

Job Function:

  • Assess student health needs as they arise during the day. Determine when sick or injured students should be sent home, have follow-up medical care or be referred to a hospital.
  • Treat student injuries, illnesses and chronic conditions by providing appropriate standards of care.
  • Administer medicine as needed on an emergency and ongoing basis based on student needs.
  • Provide care for students with Type 1 Diabetes; monitor blood sugar, administer insulin (manual and pump).
  • Collaborate with parents, family physicians, teachers, School Social Workers and professional staff to implement individualized student care, particularly for students with chronic conditions.
  • Maintain high quality of care by adhering to staff policies and procedures, nursing board requirements, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Create a compassionate environment for providing emotional and psychological support to students and staff.
  • Provide expert advice to administration, faculty, staff, and student parents and guardians on health-related matters.
  • Maintain documentation on student care services and keep confidential medical information secure.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge and certification.
Job Requirement:

Office Admin Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and students in the main school office.
  • Answer phones as part of the frontline team.
  • Coordinate bookings and schedules, such as room bookings and field trips.
  • Liaise with school staff and outside suppliers as required.
  • Manage all digital filing of student assessments and paperwork.
  • Office administration duties and filing.
  • Manage paperwork for diabetic students.


  • Registered Nurse with current license to practise in Ontario
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
