Brief Description:

A new Holocaust museum is looking for someone to engage groups in discussion-based programming on its history and lessons.

Job Function:

  • Coordinate, adapt, develop and deliver training sessions and workshops and design educational anti-bias initiatives and antisemitism programs tailored to various educational settings and age groups.
  • Develop training agendas based on regional needs, responding to specific incidents.
  • Facilitate interactive sessions with students to encourage open discussions about diversity, equity, inclusion and antisemitism.
  • Implement programs that empower students to become advocates for inclusivity and understanding within their school community.
  • Conduct training sessions for educators, administrators, and staff to enhance their awareness of antisemitism and equip them with effective strategies for addressing and preventing it.
  • Support CIJA’s advocacy work in public school boards by engaging with students, parents, teachers and school staff in addressing incidents of antisemitism and ensuring these incidents are properly recorded, investigated, and are responded to appropriately, in coordination with CIJA, and with an eye towards providing antisemitism education to the affected community.
  • Work collaboratively with the Education team, volunteers, building and security teams to meet the needs of school groups and community groups in the museum environment when needed.
  • Co-develop post visit programming with education team to be responsive and reflective of different museum topics, contemporary events, issues and antisemitism.
Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or Masters in related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience working in an education setting facilitating programming with various age groups.
  • Strong communication, teaching and facilitation skills to lead discussion-based programming for middle and high school students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of diverse students in the GTA as well as psychological development for children and teens including relevant education pedagogy and museum education best practices.
  • Ability to think on your feet, adapt learning plan to embrace constructivist learning approach and pivot to meet the needs of the learner.
  • Knowledge of Holocaust education an advantage.
  • Strong intercultural competency and dialogue skills.
  • Flexibility to work Sunday to Thursday.
