Program Overview The program run by the employer is funded by MLITSD, provides a range of employment services (information and referral, one-on-one employment counselling, employment workshops, job development/placement services) to unemployed individuals of all ages, financial backgrounds and skills to help them gain employment within their field or a related field.
The successful candidate will be driven and have an outcome-focused case management style along with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
They’re looking for someone who will: • Provide individual employment counselling and facilitate employment workshops in the office and in the community • Interview and assess clients for the appropriateness of Employment Service Program, including all youth programs –YJC, YJCS, TYJC, and YouthReach • Assess client needs and develop service plans that demonstrate the coordination of appropriate interventions to support employment goals • Demonstrate an outcome-focused case management ability; promoting Employment Ontario Services, and identifying and supporting opportunities for itinerant services in the community • Provide clients with information and referral services, and administer and discussion Better Jobs Ontario applications • Maintain client case files in compliance with the Employment Ontario model requirements; monitor clients’ progress with ongoing follow-up; produce statistical documentation • Coordinate provision of services with the Job Development team; ability to effectively assess clients’ motivation, reliability and dependability to determine placement readiness • Assist participants with the use of a variety of tools for further career training and job search • Have knowledge of current local labour market trends, community services, and resources across the GTA • Have working knowledge of the EOIS and CAMS system
Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.

Job Requirement:
Minimum Qualifications & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency. • 1-2 years of employment counselling experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to write reports • Strong interpersonal skills; sensitivity to diversity and the ability to deal effectively with many personality types • Effective organization and time management skills; ability to meet targets and deadlines • Demonstrated problem-solving skills • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce) • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position
Their ideal candidate will also have: • Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure • Certification from a Career and Work Counsellor Program • Certification from VRA Canada or ICCI • Knowledge of a second language
