As a member of the Human Resources (HR) team, reporting directly to the Manager, Human Resources & Labour Relations, and working closely with management, you will be responsible for supporting all areas of Human Resources, encouraging staff development, and implementing changes regarding HR strategies and practices. Your day-to-day responsibilities will consist of:
- Participates in designing and implementing a recruitment and retention strategy that guides employee life cycle i.e. attract, recruit, onboard, develop, retain
- Supports hiring managers with recruitment activities, such as postings, interviewing, onboarding
- Administers leaves of absences and accommodation process with support from the HR Manager
- Gathers and analyzes data using HR metrics, like absenteeism and employee turnover rates to assist in the development and implementation of HR initiatives
- Develops and implements policies, practices, and systems that comply with relevant legislation, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Provides advice and guidance to management regarding human resources related matters including the interpretation of the collective agreement and employee relations matters
- Supports HR Manager in the development and delivery of the collective bargaining strategy
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement within HR department
- Supports the maintenance of compensation and benefit plans
- Acts as backup to HR Administrator for all recruitment and reporting
- Participates in Committees as required
- Other duties and special projects as assigned

Job Requirement:
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Human Resources or a related program
- Working towards or possesses either a CHRP or CHRL designation
- 3-5 years of experience within an HR department
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Familiar with payroll and benefits systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization using sensitivity and tact
- Strong organization skills and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Effective decision making skills with the ability to work independently
- Adaptable, diplomatic, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn systems and databases used by the agency
