Brief Description:

Our employer is a leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide. They are looking for a Loss Prevention Store Investigator to join their team.

Job Function:

Responsibilities:

  • Detects and apprehends external customers committing theft or fraud against the employer's stores and completes the prosecution process: reports to police, case reports, attends court, and testifies as required
  • Investigates and identifies external theft and shrink issues impacting the employer's stores
  • Access & Use CCTV equipment to view store activity
  • Assist and support store Investigators during suspect apprehensions


Collaboration/Relationship:

  • Develops effective partnerships with other Loss Prevention team members, Store Management, and outside agencies, including the Police
  • Collaborates with the Organized Retail Crime (ORC) team on investigations of increasing complexity or concerning chronic offenders
  • Partners and communicates with Store Management and Regional Partners on trends identified within stores, or to communicate merchandise tagging/coding discrepancies
Job Requirement:

Qualifications and skills:

  • A PROVINCIAL SECURITY LICENSE IS REQUIRED TO BE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION
  • High School Diploma minimum or equivalency, Law and Security/Loss Prevention Diploma preferred
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (may vary by market), with access to a vehicle and good driving record
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and in stressful situations
  • CCTV knowledge ideal
  • Good communication, written and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of investigative methodologies ideal
  • A strong work ethic and passion for working with people
  • Strong working knowledge of Criminal Code and its application relating to crimes in a retail environment
  • This position mirrors retail store hour shift work. Some evenings, and weekends required
  • 5 days work week, guaranteed throughout the year
  • Parking fees reimbursed and mileage paid, where applicable
  • Scheduling in advance to help maintain a good work-life balance
  • Moderate amount of walking/standing -floor work
  • Must be comfortable assisting in arrests via physical intervention tactics when necessary
