Brief Description:

Our employer is a Hebrew Day School seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Kindergarten teacher to join a dynamic educational team. This individual will be responsible for delivering a play-and inquiry-based Kindergarten program that artfully infuses literacy, numeracy and social-emotional learning into a full-day schedule. This role requires a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment and OCT certification is a must.

Key Responsibilities


Curriculum Development and Implementation

  • Implement a comprehensive, play-based Kindergarten curriculum that aligns with the Ontario Kindergarten Program and Growing Success Policies.
  • Integrate literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning into daily activities and lessons.
  • Integrate Jewish holidays, customs and traditions, as well as a love of Israel, into daily activities and lessons.
  • Use inquiry-based learning strategies to encourage curiosity and exploration among students.

Instruction

  • Facilitate engaging and developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for young children.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess and monitor student progress in the Four Frames of the Kindergarten Program, as well as Jewish Studies.
  • Provide individualized support and feedback to help each child reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with support staff to address the diverse needs of students.
  • Write student progress reports.

Classroom Management

  • Create a positive, safe classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation.
  • Implement effective and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies.


Communication and Collaboration

  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and fellow teachers and administration.
  • Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and school meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Education
  • Ontario College of Teachers Certification (OCT) with Primary/Junior Division
  • Experience in integrating technology into the learning environment
  • Ability to speak Hebrew is preferred, but not required
  • Strong interest in early numeracy and literacy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm about play-based learning and early childhood education
  • Energetic and passionate about fostering a love for learning in young children
