They are looking for an individual to be active and visible giving back to our community with acts of kindness. This will report to the President.

Job Function:

  • Working collaboratively with the clergy, staff and volunteers
  • The Spiritual Leader shall adhere to and promote the values and goals of the shul
  • The Spiritual Leader will lead by example inspiring others to follow and volunteer
  • Foster and strengthen relationships.
  • Act as an ambassador for the shul.
  • Attendance at ritual services, key synagogue or school events and programs.
  • Ritual Services - The Spiritual Leader will work with the Ritual Director, Cantors, Ritual Committee, and congregants to provide uplifting and meaningful services.
  • Life Cycle Officiant - Officiate at all life cycle events
  • Pastoral Counselor - Provide emotional support and guidance for individuals or families as needed Community Builder - Foster and strengthen relationships with members and all stakeholders.
  • The Spiritual Leader should be eager to connect with members, guests, and leaders of other Jewish organizations.
  • School - The Spiritual Leader should be present at the Hebrew School on Sundays to lead tefillah.
  • The Spiritual Leader will work collaboratively with the educational staff. Parents and students at the school should feel they have a personal rapport with the spiritual leader.
  • Youth & Young Families - Connecting with youth and young families is a priority for the shul.
  • The Spiritual Leader will work closely with our youth director to engage youth and young families and create innovative programs.
  • Administration - The Spiritual Leader will work collaboratively with other administrative staff and attend meetings as needed
Job Requirement:

Qualifications

  • Track record of effective leadership
  • Experience as a spiritual leader at other Jewish organizations
  • Personal qualities of positively (bright affect), personable (extreme comfort to engage with new people and make then feel at ease), accountability (completes tasks and responds to others'
  • inquiries in a timely manner)

Assets

  • Rabbinical Ordination: A degree from an accredited rabbinical school (preferably in the
  • Conservative tradition).
  • Experience Leading Services: Strong experience leading prayer services in a synagogue, with a deep understanding of Jewish liturgy and tradition.
  • Strong Pastoral Skills: Experience in providing pastoral care, counseling, and guidance to
  • individuals and families.
  • Hebrew and Jewish Education: Proficiency in Hebrew and a strong background in Jewish texts and   education.
  • Administrative Experience: Familiarity with synagogue administration, including budgeting, event planning, and working with lay leadership.
  • Community Engagement: Proven ability to build relationships and engage with a diverse community, fostering a sense of belonging and connection.
  • Public Speaking and Teaching: Comfortable delivering sermons, teaching classes, and engaging with both adults and children in a variety of settings.
  • Cultural Competence: Sensitivity to the diverse needs of a community, including a range of Jewish observances, and a commitment to inclusivity.
