Our employer, an innovative Jewish Day School, Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8, is looking to hire a full-time Bookkeeper.

Job Function:

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a comprehensive cleanup and optimization of QuickBooks Online.

• Create and refine custom reports using class and location tracking.

• Design and implement automated workflows for exporting/importing data between QBO and third-party systems.

• Reconcile accounts, ensure accuracy of financial records, and support month-end and year-end processes.

• Assist in documenting processes and creating user-friendly reporting tools for internal stakeholders.

• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely, accurate, and organized financial data.

• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts through Excel-based modeling and data analysis.

• Handle multiple financial tasks and priorities efficiently.

 

Initial Focus Areas

The successful candidate will be expected to prioritize and address the following bookkeeping issues:

• Correct transactions posted to the wrong bank account

• Clean up old outstanding transactions

• Reclassify transactions to the newly created Classes in QuickBooks.

• Reclassify GST/HST tax codes to the updated tax structure and ensure alignment with the correct GST/HST GL accounts.

• Review and clean up Deferred Revenue and Unearned Revenue GL accounts.

• Analyze and clean up transactions posted to various income and expense accounts, ensuring proper class tagging and consistency.

Job Requirement:

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Proven experience as a  bookkeeper, ideally in a not-for-profit, school, or similar environment.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, including:
    • Custom reporting
    • Class and location tracking
    • Integration with third-party systems (exports/imports)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including modelling and data analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles  (CPA not required).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask  and manage priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
