Brief Description:

The employer creates content that informs, entertains, and connects Canadians across multiple platforms. The organization is seeking a Senior Specialist to lead the development and coordinate the implementation of content provenance technologies and standards throughout the content lifecycle. The employer is at the forefront of industry adoption of content provenance standards both nationally and internationally, collaborating with key players in media, education, research, and technology, including the Trusted News Initiative (TNI), the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), the Partnership on AI, and the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC).

Content provenance metadata is critical for asserting the origins of media assets, proving authenticity, and tracking editorial changes, thereby establishing a “chain of custody” throughout the content lifecycle. This approach benefits content creators by validating the authenticity of their work and tracking content usage for copyright purposes. For journalists and other creators, it enables rapid and accurate content verification, safeguards information about origins, and legitimizes edits. For audiences, it ensures transparency regarding content origins while tracking ownership and authorship.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Content Lifecycle, the Senior Specialist will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that content provenance metadata practices and systems operate optimally. This includes continuously improving information architecture, related systems, and workflow processes. The role also involves promoting and implementing content provenance practices across various systems and teams throughout the organization.
