Job Function:

As a top-tier leader, you'll be front and centre in our audio strategy, driving innovation and connection. In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead with Impact: You bring your A-game every day, guiding and inspiring a talented team of producers and editors, setting the daily editorial tone for our daily content offer. You ensure we are responsive when big stories break, and you help develop strategies to be on top of those stories across the day, or in the days ahead.
  • Mentor & Develop: Provide strong editorial leadership, offering clear direction, constructive feedback, and growth opportunities to a large team of journalists. You cultivate a high-performing, collaborative, and respectful work culture where everyone feels empowered to contribute.
  • Champion Audience Growth: Your editorial decisions are focused on expanding our reach, particularly to new and younger news consumers, and to deepen our engagement with all Canadians. You understand the pulse of Canadian audiences and their habits, and translate insights and data into actionable content strategies for our local morning and afternoon programs, including their livestreams.
  • Foster Authentic Storytelling: You champion content that truly reflects the richness and diversity of perspectives, ideas, and real-life experiences across Canada. You inspire your team to think inclusively, always asking whose voice is missing, and you work diligently to close that gap, whether that’s with the guest we are booking or in the taped items we share. You collaborate with journalistic leaders across their news, ensuring Canadians hear themselves reflected in our daily coverage.
  • Innovate & Strategize: With your deep understanding of the constantly evolving radio and audio landscape and emerging streaming trends, you’re instrumental in updating and communicating the unit’s strategy to ensure alignment with the goals of their news. You translate big ideas into tangible actions, always focused on helping the audience immerse themselves in the audio experience.
  • Uphold Journalistic Excellence: Ensure all content adheres to their rigorous Journalistic Standards and Practices, navigating complex ethical and legal considerations with grace and precision.
