They are looking for an individual to assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of financial reports derived from various accounting software. This role supports the budgeting process, performs variance analysis, and prepares ad hoc reconciliations and reports as required. Additionally, the Junior Financial Analyst assists with bank account reconciliations and ongoing credit card transaction analysis and reconciliation.

Job Function:

Financial Responsibilities and Budgeting

  • Collaborate with the Senior Financial Analyst to develop and maintain financial reporting systems using the accounting system and other software.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between financial reports and Sage records.
  • Create and maintain import files for the accounting system (e.g Sage 300) to enable efficient bulk data entry.
  • Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Support the preparation of daily cash position reports and monthly cash flow statements as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data related to expenses, rents, and other revenues; prepare variance analyses for categories such as utilities and cable.
  • Assist the Senior Financial Analyst with monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Manage individual tax accounts and collect necessary bank account data from various sources.
  • Lead special projects, including transitioning monthly deposits of ODSP, OAS, GAINS, and CPP from their bank account to individuals’ personal accounts.
  • Update bank account information in Buildium to reflect these changes.
  • Coordinate with the various ministries, Social Services and the Government of Canada regarding the transition from cheque payments to electronic funds transfers (EFT) directly to clients’ accounts.
  • Participate in meetings with staff and management to provide financial insights.
  • Analyze financial data to assess cash flow, expenses, and revenue trends.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Job Requirement:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience with accounting, finance, and systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an Accounting Major
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Sage and Buildium is an asset
  • Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Ability to identify trends and perform vertical and horizontal analyses
  • Knowledge of risk analysis and familiarity with risk management
