Brief Description:
Our employer is a Jewish day school. They are looking for an individual to carry out the responsibilities of a Vice Principal while additionally overseeing facilities management, day-to-day operations, and program coordination in partnership with Holy Blossom Temple staff.
The Vice Principal will also be responsible for ensuring the highest standards are met in relation to the health, safety and overall well-being of students and staff.

Job Function:
Student Advocacy
- Provide oversight of JK students' progress, behaviour, and overall well-being
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are up-to-date and are followed by staff and students
- Facilitate staff engagement in developing consistent student behaviour expectations, routines and consequences
- Debrief with students and teachers about behaviour incidents; assign appropriate consequences and involve parents when necessary
- Maintain documentation of any incidents in which children are hurt or harmed
- Support the implementation of learning accommodations, IEPs and Growth Plans in collaboration with the Dean of Student Services, classroom teachers, parents and specialists
- Support the referral process and interventions with outside professionals (e.g. OT, social workers)
- Address parent concerns related to student learning, behaviour or programming
Instruction, Supervision and Evaluation of Staff
- Support JK teachers and assistants in collaboration with Directors and Branch Principals
- Participate in hiring, onboarding and orientation of new JK personnel
- Supervise, mentor and evaluate JK staff through regular classroom visits, feedback and performance reviews
- Coordinate supply coverage for JK staff absences
Curriculum
- Support inquiry-based learning strategies to encourage curiosity and exploration among students in the General and Jewish Studies programs
- Select and coordinate appropriate JK materials and resources
- Support innovation in early childhood education through research and best practices
- Keep abreast of developments and trends in curriculum, development stages and education as a whole
- Ensure high-quality instruction and student assessment practices in JK
- Support teachers in offering an educational experience that offers Differentiated Instruction practices, as well as Universal Design for Learning
Facilities and Site Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison with Holy Blossom Temple staff, ensuring smooth and safe daily operations
- Oversee scheduling of classrooms, common space and special events at Viewmount South, including, but not limited to field trips, workshops, rehearsals, performances and events for incoming students
- Ensure safe, clean and well-maintained facilities
- Coordinate health and safety protocols in partnership with Temple staff and school leadership
- Manage onsite organization of materials, supplies and resources
Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents through meetings, phone calls, emails, and newsletters
- Liaise with the Vice Principals at the Viewmount and Himel Branches to ensure consistency and best practices
- Welcome new families and facilitate orientations for incoming JK students, in coordination with the Admissions Department
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and administrators to ensure alignment and transparency
- Represent the Viewmount South location at leadership meetings, committees and community events as required
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Admissions to lead tours for prospective tours parents
School Culture and Leadership
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive and joyful learning environment rooted in Jewish values and traditions
- Promote a strong sense of community and partnership between Bialik and families
- Coordinate the planning of professional development and staff meetings in consultation with the rest of the Educational Leadership Team
- Create opportunities to develop staff and student morale
- Work with the Admin Team to establish strategic priorities and develop plans for upholding Bialik's pillars

- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and data
- Adhere to all school policies and legal requirements, including duty-to-report obligations regarding child safety and well-being

Job Requirement:
- Bachelor of Education degree (Master's degree preferred)
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or equivalent
- Strong understanding of Jewish history, values, customs, and traditions
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience
- Prior leadership experience in early childhood or elementary education
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate facilities and operations in a shared space
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, parents, students and community partners
- Commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for young learners
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent problem-solving skills
