The client is a major Canadian media organization that produces content designed to inform, entertain, and connect audiences across multiple platforms.


They are seeking a Solution Architect specializing in content data integration and services. In this role, the successful professional will work within the Agile Engineering and Architecture team and contribute to the design, direction, and execution of the client’s vision for content data integration and distribution across their Digital Strategy & Products department.


The client is focused on delivering reliable, performant, resilient products with rapid time‑to‑market and high user satisfaction. To support these goals, the Solution Architect will guide key technical decisions for systems that ingest, structure, and expose content data to a variety of consumers, including audience‑facing applications. Within the organization, solution and domain architects are responsible for technical decisions and architectural direction across multiple product areas. This role will advocate for and demonstrate the value of architectural best practices, standards, frameworks, and principles. The architect will be recognized as a subject matter expert within their domain and will help shape common technology visions across the digital department. The position also involves advising on complex technical and architectural challenges that require thoughtful analysis of both functional and non‑functional requirements.

Job Function:

Architecture & Design

  • Design and influence architecture decisions that ensure scalability, reliability, resilience, security, and operational excellence, while aligning with business objectives and long‑term strategy.
  • Define, implement, and advocate for architectural patterns and standards for content data systems.
  • Build foundational frameworks and promote adoption of best practices.
  • Participate in discovery and ideation phases, contributing to build‑vs‑buy assessments, technology recommendations, and solution evaluations.
  • Drive the evolution of content data ingestion and distribution ecosystems, managing integration patterns, messaging systems, and associated documentation.
  • Shape department‑wide strategies for integration, dependency management, and operational excellence in content data access and distribution.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead cross‑team collaboration to address complex technical and architectural challenges, providing guidance to developers, product owners, and stakeholders.
  • Support development teams to ensure quality, maintainability, and efficiency in implementation, identifying opportunities to optimize CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

Documentation & Communication

  • Produce high‑quality solution architecture documents and other technical artifacts that clearly communicate designs, rationale, and architectural patterns across teams and leadership.

Job Requirement:

Education

  • Degree or diploma in Software Development, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in a Solution Architect or equivalent technical leadership role, working across development teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in system modernization and leading complex technical decisions with a holistic, strategic approach
  • Hands‑on experience with highly available messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka), caching, CDNs, and distributed systems design
  • Practical experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL)
  • Proven experience producing solution architecture documents and technical artifacts
  • Nice to have: Experience in enterprise digital content publishing solutions
  • Nice to have: Experience in strategic planning, technology roadmaps, and costing

Skills

  • Expertise in data management, including ingestion, integration, governance, modelling, and storage
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures, GraphQL, and enterprise integration patterns
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and management principles (e.g., ACID)
  • Up‑to‑date coding and hands‑on experience with relevant languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, scripting languages), including deployment and runtime knowledge
  • Solid understanding of architectural principles, with the ability to translate strategy into actionable designs and frameworks
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and their potential application to digital products
