About the Toronto Holocaust Museum

The new Toronto Holocaust Museum opened in the Sheff Family Building on the Sherman Campus in June 2023. At the THM, we believe that high impact Holocaust education is relevant to the world we live in today and can inspire discussion and behavioral change around contemporary antisemitism and all forms of hate. This is an opportunity to work in a brand-new state-of-the-art institution and the first Holocaust Museum in Canada designed for the post-survivor period.

About the Opportunity

In its first year, the Toronto Holocaust Museum—the premier destination for Holocaust education in the region—welcomed 14,000 students through its doors. The THM seeks a Museum Educator to facilitate educational experiences to a wide range of students and community groups from across the GTA. A deep dive into the Holocaust provides a springboard for connection and dialogue about contemporary antisemitism and hate. The Museum Educator will engage groups in discussion-based programming and develop curriculum that unpacks the lessons of the Holocaust in meaningful and relevant ways for today’s learners. Groups range in age from upper elementary to high school and come from a diversity of backgrounds including public, Catholic, private and Jewish day schools; and adult groups.

The Museum Educator will establish rapport with students while orienting groups to the Museum and the history of the Holocaust. They will tailor the post-visit discussion with programming that is age appropriate and meets the group where they are, in terms of their knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust. The Museum Educator will also co-create on-site workshops for students and co-develop learning materials including lessons and online resources.

This role supports the Toronto Holocaust Museum’s position as the province’s recognized leader in Holocaust education. Within the Education Department, the Museum Educator reports to the Director of Museum Experience and works closely with the Education Manager, Education Administrator and volunteers to ensure each group visit to the museum is a transformative experience.
