Paralegal I

Job Function:

Will work with the real estate department.

The Paralegal will assist with discovery matters, trial preparation, document organization, and preparation of administrative records. The Paralegal will also assist with preparation of legal memoranda, correspondence, and transactional documents.

Responsibilities also include conducting document analysis pertaining to challenges brought against the company for additional evidentiary proof and/or factual clarification; conducting research on legal database systems such as CityLaw, Lexis, Data Tree and other departmental database systems including Zone Information & Map Access System (ZIMAS) and Plan Cast Tracking System (PCTS); conducting research on various Department sites, such as the Council File Index and Planning Department website; coordinating with departments; obtaining Grant Deeds; obtaining Certified Corporate records, and other documents from the Secretary of State’s Office; obtaining certified documents; preparing transcripts, calculating and estimating costs for record preparation; compiling and organizing voluminous files;


Job Requirement:

Paralegal Certificate or Master’s degree in legal related field or JD.

This position requires a person who is self-motivated, can learn quickly, exercise independent judgment and work with minimum supervision. The applicant must have good organizational skills, be able to work well with other employees of this office and personnel from other agencies and from the offices of opposing counsel. Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to lift boxes (up to 25 lbs.) containing case files;
